I'm reading this at the moment and it's fabulous.
With the #WolfsonHistoryPrize 2025 winner announced in 2 weeks, we will be releasing six exclusive videos spotlighting each of our shortlisted authors.

First up, in our video spotlight, Helen Castor introduces 'The Eagle and the Hart: The Tragedy of Richard II and Henry IV'.

Great fun to be an in house public affairs person on days like this, fielding repeated Teams messages from confused colleagues asking what the fuck is going on and equally repeatedly responding with gifs of various people dramatically shrugging

There is huge market share for the Lib Dem’s to run with the motto of “enough of this American nonsense let’s be sensible British people
Again” and not sure anyone’s weird arguments that specific voters should be chased is needed at all.

The first paragraph of this made me laugh in an inappropriate for the office kind of way. And I vigorously agree with the rest of it.

If someone who doesn’t ride for UAE could win a stage from the break at some point that would increase my ever flagging interest in this race exponentially #lavuelta25

It's far from the main point and miles from its main impact, but there's a huge and lucrative chunk of the podcast market that owes its very existence to In Our Time. I hope it continues.
A huge moment -- Melvyn Bragg steps down from In Our Time after over a quarter of a century. What a programme and what a legacy! Just a model for how to make great, clever, engaging radio, and a twenty-seven-year experiment that proves there's a huge global audience for smart, scholarly programming.

My favourite thing, of several (and not least my fantasy team), about Jonas winning stages is that we get his relateably boring celebration video #LaVuelta25

Whether it's objectively good or I just associate it with like 90% of my happiest childhood memories I can't honestly say but: Orlando International
Actually, you know what? Let’s stop complaining for a second. QT this with a GOOD airport. Defend that title as much or as little as you like. But let’s hear about airports that don’t suck.

There’s nothing about this kid that I don’t love
🇬🇧 Mathew Brennan post-stage at the 🇵🇱 Tour de Pologne

"To be honest, I think it was a bit of a stupid move. But once you commit to something like that, you’ve just got to go. I kicked and then I saw the 300m to go sign, and I thought ‘Ah, this is a long way on an uphill finish.’"

No one cares about women's sport...
France TV reports record viewership for Tour de France Femmes 🇫🇷📺

An average of 2.7 million tuned in per stage - with the final stage peaking at 7.7 million as Pauline Ferrand-Prévot sealed yellow on home soil.

Cannot stop thinking about the sheer chutzpah of saying 'yeah, I'm gonna win the Tour in my first season on the road in years, why not' and then actually doing it
>returns to road cycling
>wins Paris-Roubaix
>refuses to elaborate
>wins Tour de France

Wish I had 10% of the commitment to my job that Chris Woakes evidently has to his. Cricket: an objectively totally mad sport.

Interesting to me that all of this nonsense is linked to two men's egos whilst their female teams just crack on. Maybe men are just too emotional for sport?
Visma and FDJ tried to clear the air, but FDJ manager Delcourt reignited tensions at 🇫🇷 #TDFF2025:

“When I talked about a lack of respect, I wasn’t just referring to the crash. It’s not the first time Van Emden talks like this. For him, it’s all a game. I think he’s a stupid man.”

Wout winning, G crossing the finish line for a last time, trying to keep one eye on the football - I’m exhausted

Me, a Wout fan, before stage 21: this has been the worst Tour I’ve watched.
Me, a Wout fan, after stage 21: THIS IS THE GREATEST TOUR I’VE WATCHED

My entirely self centred take on Mavi Garcia winning that stage is that I’m hugely in favour of people older than me winning things in sport (also: she’s amazing and another incredible stage) #TDFF2025
July 27, 2025 at 1:35 PM
Imagine how people would react if there was only full coverage of seven stages of the men’s Tour
Was lulled into a false sense of security yesterday - thought we'd have full coverage for all of the #TDFF2025 but alas... only 3/9 stages. Not good enough.
