Question to my fellow educators: what kinds of rewards, if any, do you give to students? Does anyone use items as reward for students on behavior plans?

Ok teacher friends…what is the best electric pencil sharpener?
Mine is pretty new still but it is sharpening the pencils wonky so I am thinking it needs to be replace already.
If it can’t sharpen the Ticonderoga pencils right…it needs to go!

Student kept singing one line of a song over and over today. I told him it’s a good song so he should sing the rest of it. He then tells me, “Miss White! That’s the only part they play on YouTube.”

I had one of the hardest parent/teacher conferences I have had in my 23 years last night. I know our plates are full but we need to be honest with families about the whole child, not just behavioral concerns. I feel empty.

Our classroom “pet” showed up with kids in the room. The kid in my room who acts the toughest…screamed and jumped on a table. The girls, all said “awwwwwe” in unison.

I am a 5th grade teacher in St. Paul. This is year 23. It’s been harder than ever to practice self care this year. My students have many needs. I am always looking for RP ideas, new books for my classroom, new things to improve my learning, and what my students need.
