Pretty much! As I ingest each bin I would lock the media files off (the folder with the db in) by renaming them the same as the bin and then copy those folders and the bin to my drive

Then when I start a new project all my audio just needs copying over and the the bin adding to my new project

It’s looking like Logitech will be the way forward, absolutely baffling that companies aren’t trying to widen their audience

No way!!! It lets you install razor software but doesn’t allow you to program with it 🥹

I had no idea operating system wars were still going on in 2025! All I want is some extra buttons to use in Avid haha

Oooo this is interesting!

I’ll have to do a bit of research whilst waiting for my refund

A RedDragon Impact, think I’m going to return it and get a Razor Naga Pro honestly

More annoyed that the Amazon page says it’s Mac compatible when it’s really not!

So I’m lucky on this job and have a lab that I can send an EDL and guide off to straight from avid

But the database tracks all my VFXs through all the versions etc and generates a pdf that I can give to the VFX company with any and all information they may need

Same with start frame which is always 1001, FMP will take the total frame pull duration add them together to get the end frame count, then do the handle calculations again.

Basically I hate math and would rather sit and code than do math every time I pull a VFX haha

So for example my bin provides the start/end TC of the VFX pull, I tell FMP there is 8frame handles on each end and it will recalculate the TC and put it in it's own section of the count sheet.

I'm using it to track VFX and create VFX count sheets!

So I export an avid bin, filled with VFX subclips, with all the camera/scene/LTO information in my bin view. I import that into individual FMP records.

Then it does my frame handle calculations, frame durations and TCs.

I’m in Avid! Never used FileMaker Pro as my database before so everyday is an adventure 😅
