Rights of due process don't depend on our personal opinions of the accused. For example, I regard the January 6, 2021, criminals as insurrectionists and traitors - yet I am still glad that each and every one of them got a proper trial before they were convicted and sentenced.

The ACA was cool because before the ACA EVERY SINGLE CHILD WITH CANCER hit their annual and lifetime limits almost immediately and were denied insurance for the rest of their lives and after the ACA that’s illegal.
The ACA was cool because before the ACA you could hit your lifetime maximum before you were a month old and be denied insurance for the rest of your life and after the ACA that’s illegal.

The GOP has proven time and again since 2008 that the primary benefit to being in the opposition was that policy proposals weren’t their problem(and even just losing control of a single body in midterms was enough for them to institute their opposition strategy).
