A #SteepleSaturday throwback to climbing the tower of St Margaret's, Whaddon with the wonderful @rachelb105.bsky.social.

The nave and chancel are 13th century, but the tower itself is 15th century. The church was re-dedicated to St Margaret of Scotland in 1315.

An ‘unintended’ consequence of leading a session for Brownies about Advent (and making some Advent paper chains) is that there seems to be some left over chocolate to eat… 😇 #ministry

It was wonderful to meet Bishop Emmanuel from the Diocese of Western Tanganyika in Tanzania today, at St Margaret’s, on what happened to be our Patronal Festival! Double cause for celebration with cake after the Eucharist! Fascinating to hear about his diocese & his hopes for continued partnership.

Preparation for tomorrow’s Remembrance service with uniformed orgs has proved different to usual, and I’ve learnt so much about jelly babies that I didn’t know before!! I’d never realised they were known as peace babies in 1918 or that they are now different shapes with individual names! #whoknew

As we continue to explore Gloucestershire… we have very much enjoyed a short stay at Tortworth Court, Wooton-under-Edge, thanks to a good deal through Secret Escapes. We even managed a short walk in the grounds when it didn’t rain! #timeoff #relax
