I loved Allan Ahlberg’s books while growing up, and then relished reading them to my children, particularly Burglar Bill. (‘I’ll ’ave that!’) Janet and Allan delighted generations of children - what a legacy.

This year more than ever, I think the only meaningful gift is to charities. I’ve bought gifts via Cancer Research, & I’ve donated to @booktrust.bsky.social to give books to children from vulnerable family backgrounds. (Working there, I know the funds go towards this.) booktrust.org.uk
