People just will not accept that the leadership of the national party is full of extreme social conservatives. They are stuck in “John Key supported marriage equality” Groundhog Day loop. And I mean people in my social circle in real life. But also on here.

My point here is it's a mistake to say the conduct of this government in relation to trans NZers is solely a NZ First thing. Yes, the majority of the National Party voted to ban conversion practices. But those who thought it should remain legal did not find that position a barrier to advancement.

If they'd tried cancelling imagine the complaints from parents of bright or sporty kids. This is all a hangover from Covid and the misinformation that was spread online and at times by journalists wanting to both sides everything.

We’re still in the midst of an ongoing pandemic and most people are living like it’s 2019. Shout out to the people who never stopped masking. The ones who never stopped caring about the most vulnerable in our communities. The COVID cautious folks know what’s up.
