I can say that Gen AI did one good thing for me. It pissed me off so much I asked for (and got!) a promotion so I didn't have to deal with it anymore.

I’m Glad My Mom Died legit changed how I view all of my relationships and how I advocate for myself. It was, no exaggeration, a life-changing read.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

All of this to look like a fourth-tier Ed, Edd, n Eddy character is fuckin wild.

I’d guess we don’t get a decision until the new format is decided.
Denny Hamlin will not commit to racing next season today. He needs more time to think about it. Will post the video of his complete comments shortly.

Turns out game seven moments work best when they’re organic and the outcome isn’t dependent on a roulette wheel of potential mishaps that have nothing to do with the players involved.

NASCAR, in an attempt to never have a 2003 Matt Kenseth event again, basically killed everything people liked about it instead of literally just weighting wins far more in the points like every other racing series on Earth

I completely agree with this premise. This has always been my biggest issue of many with the format: It does not do a good job of telling a satisfying story. It culminates with a champion by chance. It's the same problem GWCs, two-tire stops with 5 to go, and double-file restarts create: Nonsense.
A lot of folks are feeling a little jaded about the NASCAR finale, but I don't think it's because of the Playoffs.

It's because the narrative stinks.

This is the same issue that has devalued a Daytona 500 win. Sports build toward a satisfying conclusion, they create stories by format. In so many different ways, NASCAR has gotten in the way of its own ability to tell those stories.

Just consistently reminding myself that I’m only working two days this week in order to power through this drivel. I have the mental energy of a dehydrated sponge.

You can’t manufacture greatness, but you can manufacture unbridled rage, as it turns out. Full season points or don’t fucking bother.

NASCAR doing a half-baked attempt at content creation that blows up in their face? I’ve never heard of such a thing.

Trying to do something on the cheap that ends up taking way more time and money than not doing it at all is what’s called a Zeebo.

As in, this was the dumbest idea since the Zeebo.

The thing about this championship format is it's not fun. It's stressful as fuck because you know a bird can shit on the track at any time and end someone's chances.
