We should also hold both the government and news entities (looking at you DHS and Fox—are they even separate entities now?) accountable when they falsely claim Sen. Padilla didn’t identify himself. Boldly lying to the public in the face of obvious evidence to the contrary should have consequences.
If a senator is no longer allowed to ask pointed questions at a public press conference, our democracy is in real peril.
This is a step toward authoritarianism that cannot be ignored.
