Absolutely thrilled this is out🥳Our review explores why antibiotics often fail even when bacteria is susceptible in the lab. From phenotypic resilience and biofilm formation to host microenvironment, we dive into many factors behind these discrepancies

New development: this is the first detection of genotype D1.1 H5N1 virus in cattle. All cattle sequences to date were genotype B3.13 & were all descended from a single spillover.

New genotype means new introduction to cows from birds.

USDA milk testing shows different strain of H5N1 bird flu in Nevada dairy herds
The USDA said four Nevada dairy herds were infected with an H5N1 bird flu strain that has circulated in wild birds, making prospects for containment in cows appear dim.

I will continue as well as I can. But it seems that I will now be increasingly working upstream to do so.

Vaccines and medical advancements have been a source of pride for the US. But withheld from the world, they are nothing more than arrogant taunts of a bully.

I will not be an apologist for the many horrible things the US has done and continues to do around the world. But it has been the great privilege of my life to have participated, in even a small way, in health development that has offset some of those harms.

THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION IS A DEPARTMENT CREATED BY STATUTE; IT CANNOT BE ELIMINATED BY EXECUTIVE ORDER! EXECUTIVE ORDERS CANNOT REPEAL STATUTES! JUST LIKE DEPARTMENTS CANNOT BE CREATED BY EXECUTIVE ORDER!

she shouts into the void
BREAKING: The White House is preparing an executive order to eliminate the Department of Education, two sources familiar with the plans tell NBC News.

Fuck cancer. Especially pediatric cancer. These people want to punish these precious little kids to pay for tax cuts for the wealthiest corporations in human history. Shame on them.

I'm intrigued but definitely agree we need a new vision to support science and inspire the next generation of scientists
A new vision for American science

"...Scientists need to recognize that bold presentation, dissemination, and support of scientific knowledge has become both a basic commitment and a political act.
Scientists as political advocates
Science, both teaching and doing, is under attack. The recent US presidential election of a person and platform with anti-science bias exemplifies this. The study of climate processes and patterns and...
