Well my initial post expressing desire to educate myself on classic samurai films was pretty unfortunately timed, but I got these in the mail today so it looks like I'm also gonna also be watching them in honor of Tatsuya Nakadai.

Was a first time watch for me earlier this year, and it shot straight to my favorites. Turns out action cinema peaked in 1992, insane movie.

Wow, I haven't seen a single one of these. This hobby rules because I can watch thousands of movies and still have an endless well of incredible stuff lying around waiting for me to discover.

Truly kicks ass.

Harakiri was on the list for sure, Sword of Doom was not, but I will now be prioritizing that, thanks for the recs!

If nothing else, Hunt is the one I'd recommend because it has an incredible aesthetic. I think the reason Hunt (and the genre in general) might be hard to penetrate is because it's pretty unfriendly to beginners with how many tryhards are around in the game. Learning the ropes can be a pain.

I love him, but Keanu Reeves in Bram Stoker's Dracula is legendarily bad.

I still really enjoy modern Pokemon, but it is definitely missing that obtuse mystique or "playground rumor" element to it. Part of that may just be the way information is so easily found, confirmed, or debunked via the internet, but damn I miss "Mew is under the truck" type stuff.

It's beautiful presentation wise, but if you display this vertically the discs slowly slip into the glue of the cardboard. I had to remove them all and buy custom cases. And yeah features and scan wise it's pretty barebones. Love that I was able to bulk buy all the Showa stuff at least though.
