My friend really needs help covering monthly expenses while surviving in a tough care giving situation. Please share and give what you can! We need ongoing support to help meet their goal of stability.

The logic here seems to be that disruptions to the system is the time to be implementing more changes. I agree with that, but it is a big claim to be able to do it through policy. I think the evidence later in the book doesn't support her claim. We'll get to that part in a later chapter.

Sigh. Audre Lorde said it best that the master's tools will never dismantle the master's house. I had slim hope that this book would propose policy as a potential solution, not the only solution.

Yes, Black & Indigenous people front and center! Oh wait..... Oh no there it is. Policy is the only thing that can save us, not other forms of insurgency. How are we supposed to upend the oil companies grip on our society through policy when they spend millions on politicians?

I 100% agree with the premise that this fight must center the most marginalized!!! I think we are going to differ on how that is achieved. The material realities of energy & power access, especially for diaabled people, in our daily lives is crucial here.

The main thesis laid out that renewable energy transition built by the current system will perpetuate the harm of the current system. Green capitalism (but it's renewable!) and oil companies get to save us from the crises they wrought while making even more money.

This is a very polite way of not naming white people (liberals mostly) who have repeatedly failed to act. It also doesn't outright say that some of this urgency is created by those in power, politicians and corporations, on purpose as they drag their heels to address the problem.

She is an excellent storyteller so far & her life as a queer, black woman informs her policy work. My politics & job in renewable energy lead me to doubt that reform is going to reshape the energy system enough to work for Black, indigenous, and poor people, but I am curious.
