This is a phrase I use regularly when discussing the woes of car-centric society; it may be dramatic, but it's not hyperbolic.

Fun fact - the US has more miles of rail than any other on the planet (yes, including China)
Almost all that rail is owned/operated by the largest freight rail companies in the world.

It's almost funny, as someone who is underemployed, with experience/willingness to be a server, delivery bike rider, etc., to feel like I have **fewer options** to make money because of Seattle's very high minimum wage for tipped workers/delivery drivers.

Didn't read it, but this article headlines "Most Bike-Friendly Big Cities in the US" and chose to use a photo with one bicycle in it and at least 23 cars, and I think that's just a remarkable indication of the general biking experience in the US.

Been watching this poor old man struggle to parallel park for over 5 min now, congesting traffic and making people mad. I almost find it funny, but ultimately it's sad that so many elderly citizens feel compelled to drive in order to participate in society.
Beyond sad, eventually it's hazardous.

Of course Bellevue Square and the other downtown Bellevue malls get the bulk of marketing attention, but imo Crossroads is the most interesting, organic, and eclectic place to eat/shop/vibe (of the places I've been to on the east side)

I've been inclined to call a noise complaint about a house party being obnoxiously loud with their speakers, but they've played an adequate amount of Lady Gaga that I'm holding off.
