IDK I remember the early attempts at crowd-sourced moderation turning into a total disaster

(I‘m honestly not sure how one would make that work without it falling apart eventually)

Though as I understand it, each instance can at least manage their own moderation as they see fit, I think?

Not, apparently, at some of these detention facilities where they’re holding people for weeks in quarters that were not designed to hold people for more than a day at most, and that weren’t designed to hold the number of people being crowded into them all at once.

YES

I don’t know why people are surprised at it here, it’s like they’ve never been on any other social media before

I think I know which ones, some of those songs get pretty graphic

You could not pay me enough to do moderation, it sounds like a fast track to “everyone hates you and you’re traumatized for life“ 😬

So much this, yes

“Can’t you take a joke?” has long been THE go-to shield of all the worst internet harassers and trolls

Facebook moderation is WAY more arbitrary and stupid than even the dumbest moderation screw-ups I’ve seen on here

I got warnings on FB for posts saying “Happy Birthday” when I tried responding to all the reminders FB kept sending me saying “it’s so-and-so’s birthday! Wish them a Happy Birthday!”

Pretty sure the reality is a few layers of automation (with varying degrees of accuracy,) a vast queue of mostly frivolous reports, and a handful of tired anonymous moderator grunts slowly working through anything that automation couldn’t handle, while constantly falling behind as more piles up

Also love that whatever moderation action someone is complaining about, no matter how minor, it’s envisioned as the CEO and/or head of T&S coming after the affected account PERSONALLY, maybe even obsessively combing through all their posts

Like the CEO is doing moderation grunt-work? I have doubts!
November 13, 2025 at 7:59 PM
I’m pretty sure the CEO is not working the moderation queue or handling T&S

It’s always wild to me how so many people on here seem to think the CEO or even the head of the T&S team are PERSONALLY handling every report by hand, on a site of several million accounts making billions of posts

This is an opportunity to wear one of those camelbak pack things under your coat and surreptitiously fill it while “drinking” free coffee

Self-pub is like taking on several whole other full-time jobs! It’s definitely not an option everyone is going to want to do (or be able to do,) especially if they’re operating solo

Though it would also be great if the traditional publishing world wasn’t kind of a mess right now 🙃
November 13, 2025 at 6:45 PM
Honestly I like both of those a lot
November 13, 2025 at 6:02 AM
Heck, I used to get flagged as spam on Facebook if I thanked too many people for their “Happy Birthday” posts too quickly

“pres king pm”…?

what in the what
November 13, 2025 at 3:48 AM
Cooooool~!

Yeah, even better with the airplane sound!
November 13, 2025 at 3:43 AM
It was pretty freaky!
November 13, 2025 at 3:40 AM
I’ve never seen that, but I did once see northern lights that started out as one narrow red beam that looked like some kind of alien laser attack

I was with family, and we were all kind of freaking out going “what the hell is THAT!?” before it started morphing into more typical northern light forms

Oh heck yeah!

Why is she going on about “deleting her entire account”?

Wasn’t it just a 72 hour suspension? Like, the account is still there, she’ll get it back when time-out is over
