So I understand what you are saying. But I'm saying that I think there is a big problem when the writing doesn't seem to translate to the real world.
So my analogy was comparing modern militaries to countries that labeled themselves communist. I'm willing to cede you the literal textual argument.

In the real world I've seen communism work at small scales, but never at large scales. Whereas I've seen European style Social Democracy working at a national scale.

I'm more talking about the kinds of socialism and communism I've observed in the wild.
Social Democracy seems to mean what people are doing in Scandinavia. The "communism" that I've observed growing up seems to be authoritarian in nature. Unless are are only talking small scale like Kibbutzim.

I don't live in those states. I don't see a point in calling them. However, it would be nice to know where the pressure they felt was coming from. If there was someone I could boycott, that would be nice.
