I wrote a lot about Willie in my book about the 1981-83 Toronto Argonauts. He was a good man and a good coach who deserved a better fate. (But I believe Fritz Pollard was the first Black head coach in pro football.)

The challenge with comparing punters across generations is that the demands of the position have changed. Joe Zuger wasn't expected to land each punt outside the numbers near the sideline, etc. Rouges were not considered failures.

Don't forget, the league -- not the teams -- owned the playoff games. It would have had to be a league-produced program.

I can't be 100% definitive, but I just checked my collection and I do not have a program for that game. I was there and certainly would have picked a few up. I have every other home game in 2012. They were doing glossy but thin freebie programs in that era.

Eight D-linemen should be sufficient, especially with the quality of the four backups. I wonder if Priester might replace Darkangelo on some passing downs.

For real. The project has been delayed for various reasons but it is a hell of a story. It's 80% done; hopefully I get it finished in the very near future.
