Holy heck god damn is this book a fascinating read. The prologue hits the term “unalive” hard and compares it to so many ways we’ve softened words around death - including “deceased”.

Okay here's a thing. I'm affected by feelings I'm not feeling. Feelings that maybe I was once taught to feel that I've realized I disagree with so I don't feel them but they affect me as though I feel them until I magically think to say I don't feel them.
Eg thinking someone would be disappointed.

Can anyone describe for me what they do when they "talk about" their feelings?
For example, if I'm sad bc of terrible thing, I will not talk about being sad,I will talk able terrible thing. But I can't even imagine an alternative. It can't be saying I'm sad over and over lol. What are feelings??

I will be watching a movie now, realize what the character is meant to be feeling and saying, and then get a little mad that it took me this long to realize that people express emotions that way.
