For some of them, yes. It’s a lot of the same tactics that would have been used to recruit young men back in the 1930s (find out where they’re hanging out, get in their ear, make them feel ‘special’, lean into peer pressure), but these days it’s online.

It breaks my heart, actually, because I’ve taught most of these boys for the last 7 years (I teach a specialist subject area, so I’ve had them since they started primary school), and until the last year, they’ve been lovely humans.
