The first time I encountered Bp. Mariann Edgar Budde was at my seminary graduation. I have been in awe of her ever since and have quoted her wisdom in my sermons

I do not envy her task today. She preached truth in love and I’m not surprised by its reception by those who do not want to hear her

We had someone over to clean the fireplace and chimney yesterday and the tl;dr of it is that if we use the fireplace, the house could burn down.

I’ve been facilitating a book group for 4 years and we meet on Thursday night…and I’m nowhere near finished with the book. And I’m not enjoying it. 😬 So now I’m starting to resent it, which is just making me like it less. But it’s for work, so…

Dog: *doesn’t move *

Dog: *doesn’t move*
Me: GET YOUR BALL
Dog: oh! ok! here it is!
Me: *throws ball*
Dog: *runs off, fetches ball, plays with ball, returns to stare at me*
Me: 🤦‍♀️

This happens nearly every day.

One of my Christmas gifts. Not quite 1000 yards of sport weight yarn, dyed by a friend. Not sure what I’ll do with it yet, but it’s nice to imagine the possibilities.

My favorite picture from 2024 is from Skógafoss, taken during our foss tour of Iceland.

Also, we absolutely call all waterfalls, no matter the size, a foss now.

@calm.com is being helpful today, as always

As a kid, I thought adults had Things Figured Out. As an adult, I’ve kept waiting for that to happen. And it has, in a few ways.

But maybe we just get good at pretending we know what we’re doing, figuring things out along the way. And that’s OK.

I took a load of books to Powell’s and came home with one book. Now I just need to not lose the gift card that still has $70 on it.
