That's... exactly the point being made, yes. You're lasered in on "worse graphics" and are somehow blind to the words "I want". If people want graphics to be worse, then *obviously* they believe art and graphics are completely unrelated.

I mean for one, wouldn't happen without nostalgia, like if it came out today almost no one would appreciate 64's movement, even if Nintendo made it.
But honestly it doesn't matter what they improved, because they made at least a few things worse and the human brain is built to focus on that
