In Spore (2008), a couple of the starting herbivore cells the player can get have their eyes aligned vertically, which gives them functionally a redundant extra part to sell for 5 DNA.
This is basically useless in casual play because 5 DNA isn't enough to afford any extra parts.

i will say an addendum that at the very least every 3D dedede has been an improvement compared to the air ride/rtdl design which, while very faithful to the snes sprite, makes him look like an innocent bugeyed creature with no personality whatsoever
