No. All reporting I can find refers to it as an e-bike, but as we know, that doesn't necessarily mean that's what it was.

However, based on what was mentioned in the programme, there's little to suggest the type of bike was a relevant factor in the outcome.

The segment on the person killed after being hit by an e-bike rider was problematic for a number of reasons, most notably because the type of bike wasn't relevant to the cause of his death.

They did use a fair amount of b-roll footage of perfectly legal e-bikes, whilst talking about the illegal stuff.

That's why I use the term in inverted commas, but you're right. It can be hard to be clear about exactly what we're talking about whilst trying to stay succinct.

The food delivery companies could easily implement checks to crack down on the use of illegal bikes, among other bad/illegal practices by their couriers. Unfortunately, it's not in their interest, which is why much tighter regulation is necessary.

If it focused exclusively on illegal ‘e-bikes’ and made clear the distinction between those and legal e-bikes at the outset, it could have done some good.
