Inspired by the late-sixteenth century Faust legend based on Johann Georg Faust the itinerant, alchemist, astrologer and magician of the German Renaissance. Mephistopheles, also known as Mephisto, an agent of Lucifer serving as a collector of damned souls. He does not tempt nor corrupt the hearts of men, but forewarns devil deal seekers and patiently awaits those who have already sold their souls. Trapped in his own Hell by serving the Devil, witnessing an eternity of those seeking a deal with him and advising them not to forgo the promise of heaven to pursue their goals. This dark, yet sorrowful depiction of his suffering, his despair— reveals the soulless eyes of the damned surrounding him in the infernal flames and blood of hell.
