Put together another little app over the weekend. I’ve been after a simple meditation timer app that provides this functionality without all the clutter and haven’t found one yet, so I made this one: meditationtimer.markavey.com

Pretty impressed with Gemini 3. Knocked this together in about an hour from initial thought to being hosted - mindfulmoment.markavey.com

We had to say goodbye to little Basil last night. Thanks for so many beautiful years of love and companionship and for all the joy you gave so many people. Love you, fella.

Finished reading: Reality Is Not What It Seems by Carlo Rovelli 📚I think this is the best science book I’ve ever read. Beautifully written, super informative and lots of food for thought.

Finished reading: Night School by Lee Child 📚 Probably my least favourite Reacher book so far, but reasonably entertaining.

Using Google Gemini for creating flight plans (e.g. around UK coast, Europe, whole world) for use with MSFS 2020 is good fun. It makes some gaffs, as expected, but is learning from its mistakes.

It’s a shame Pocket is shutting down. It was the prime reason I went for a Kobo eReader. Exploring Wallabag for potential use with KOReader but might have to switch to Boox. I already have a Boox Go 10 which I’m very impressed with.

All done. That was a really impressively designed kit. Nice to build, too. Not much repetition.

Probably about as effective as most “proper” wings in UK roads 😊

Bas and I out for a walk. His shades aren’t just to make him look cool - that’s a bonus 🙂

I love the way the plant took root on the tree stump, almost like it consciously thought “This looks like a nice spot” 🙂

Apple pulls data protection tool from UK. Well done UK. Another giant leap backwards for privacy and common sense. We seem determined to become a first world country. Christmas present complete. Fun build. Loved the 3D-ishness and the way the designers created the different layers. #Lego

I think this is my favourite sim screenshot I’ve ever taken in several decades of flight simming. It feels very natural and quite beautiful to me. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 flying over Scotland.

So after telling us all that climate change really is a thing (and that appears to be beyond doubt now), current global opinion seems to be (at a government level) “We must do something about it for future generations, unless it’s going to be inconvenient or cost us money”. Is that a fair summary?

UK government: “How Labour will make Britain a clean energy superpower”. UK government: “Let’s build another runway at our busiest airport so we can get more planes coming and going”. Hmm. They must be referring to those new-fangled green planes.
