Fun fact:

No one’s going to test before your holiday gathering.

Not for Covid.
Not for Flu.
Not for RSV.

But you could. You could show them how it’s done.

That’s how crazy this timeline is.

Stop worrying about terraforming Mars and start preventing the venusification of Earth.
Humans will NEVER colonize another planet. Never.

If we can’t even agree to do the minimum to keep Earth habitable, there’s no way in hell we’ll cooperate to make another planet habitable.

It’s crazy to think about the crimes we’re going to learn about after this regime ends.

We’re already hearing about Watergate level crimes every week. Imagine what will come out after it’s over.

We’re going to need a full accounting of all that’s been done in violation of the constitution.

Do you know why girls used to get married at 15?

Because they were forced to

They were “property”

They had no rights

They couldn’t vote, own a home or have a credit card

Just because we used to do it that way doesn’t make it right.

They were kids then & they’re kids now

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

Them: “I’m sick of subsidizing their groceries when mine cost so much”

SNAP does not drive up grocery prices.

That would be inflation, tariffs & corporate greed.

For every $1 spent on SNAP there’s a $1.50 going back into the economy.

While you’re blaming the poor, the rich are robbing everyone.

Being in the US illegally is a civil offence

It’s not a felony. It’s not a criminal offence

So why are so many people being violently rounded up & thrown in camps?

Racism & fascism

The DOJ admitted that only 2.5% of people arrested in Chicago raids had criminal records

Which means 97.5% did NOT

Last thing for today: if you truly are progressive, that means you don’t leave any vulnerable person behind. Even vulnerable ppl who live in the South. And if you have an exception to that rule, you aren’t actually progressive.

We fight for all vulnerable ppl. Period.

Most of what gets shared as heartwarming stories are usually temporary, small-scale responses to systemic failures. I wish we found it just as inspirational to make structural changes to unjust systems, but I don’t know if our culture knows how to tell those stories.

You are not a pessimist or "downer" for struggling w/ hope. Of course trauma survivors struggle w/ hope. We're suspicious of it. We know it can make us vulnerable. We know it can be used against us.

But hope, properly understood & leveraged, can also be a powerful recovery tool.

People often push the disabled to take risks with our health.

They think if it’s already “that bad” who cares if it gets worse

We care.

Our baselines mean everything to us.

Whatever limited function we have left is always worth protecting.

Ableism is everywhere.

People will abandon you. Even those you were certain would stick by you.
