The Trump regime is now using US Attorneys to intimidate academic journals by sending them letters demanding they explain how they ensure ‘viewpoint diversity.’ Journal editors should be public about this and coordinate to refuse to comply with these fascist tactics.

I'm not looking forward to RFK's potential escalation from lying about the cause of autism, to lying about the prescription for it. Obviously he will try to weaken vaccination coverage, but it would be on-brand of him to push some snake oil that parents inevitably give their kids.

The company claiming to "de-extinct" species by shoving a couple transgenes into other species is the perfect example of the "science" that gets done with only private funding. Sounds flashy, is actually the molecular biological equivalent to putting a new logo on your Tesla and calling it a Honda.

The cultural impact of vaccination is so overlooked. Imagine parenting in a world where half your kids die before reaching adulthood. We've only eradicated one human pathogen: Variola, causative agent of smallpox. And w/ antibiotics failing, we could get close to that 50% again if we keep trying.
Why do we like vaccines and water systems so much?
It used to be 50/50 whether your kid lived to be an adult. With 4 kids, 94% chance they wouldn't all make it.
Fun times. Maybe let's not do that again.

Columbia University has sunk lower yet by firing the president of Student Workers of Columbia, my union, less than 24 hours before SWC's bargaining session with the Uni. They claim it's because of the protest activity last year. I'm not sure there's anything to say other than: CU hates its students.

And in 2004, there were only 37 cases. None of these kids needed to get sick, all of this was preventable. Measles is fucking scary: ~1/1,000 patients die due to acute disease. ~1/10,000 develop fatal, progressive inflammation of the brain, called SSPE, a decade after infection. Horrifying.

Maybe we should keep studying how the BRAIN does REPRODUCTIVE THINGS. WHAT DO THESE HAVE TO DO WITH TRANS!? ZIP!
