Another way of looking at it: if the suggested cooking time is right, then that's only one clove per minute-- which seems awfully slow to me.

I've lived this scenario and tried to rig up all manner of contraptions to trigger the sensor -- pulleys! mirrors! foam darts! -- and nothing worked well enough. Then one of my favorite students asked me why I didn't just bring in a lamp.

I used to use Hall and Oates whenever I needed a couple names to round out a multiple choice exam. Kept a running tally of whenever they were chosen. Here, too, Oates got the short end of the stick.
