Unapologetic American Democrat
No one’s asking for forced channel-switching. We’re asking for structural accountability—like the Fairness Doctrine once provided. It didn’t censor anyone; it required broadcasters using public airwaves to present opposing views on controversial issues. That’s not coercion—it’s democratic balance.

So whether it applied to ‘news’ or not, its absence helped normalize imbalance

True—the FD formally applied to editorializing. But its repeal signaled a broader retreat from fairness norms across broadcasting. The FCC itself acknowledged that the doctrine had a chilling effect on biased coverage, and its removal coincided with the rise of partisan infotainment.

Moreover, fairness of equal reporting is our problem, and removing the FD standard didnt help.

You’re confusing legal precedent with civic imagination. ‘Updated for today’ means adapting the principle—not copy-pasting the mechanism. The Fairness Doctrine was built for broadcast scarcity; today’s scarcity is attention, not airwaves.

We need, the "Fairness Doctrine," back and updated for socials. IMHO
Thanks Reagan. For removing that standard from the news media.

Fascist ideology was based off Conservative ideology. Both use their faith/religion as a tool to rule with.

This is over simplifying the situation. Billioniares want us simplifying it for them. So we demand we start from scratch. So they give us their answer. Classic Hegelian Dialectic. We must be more careful when saying that generally. IMHO
