2025 Game #13: Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Jumped around a lot of games looking for something short and enjoyable. Bounced off a few (including Cuphead surprisingly, thought that would be something I'd really enjoy) but ended up landing on this. Fun short run through, swinging still feels great

2025 Game #12: Axiom Verge

Really liked this one! Sci-fi theme was really cool, fantastic music, enjoyable story. Sequel is now much higher on my list of games to get to, although I have heard its fairly different and not as good...

With this I've now hit my goal of finishing 12 games this year :)

2025 Game #11: Final Fantasy VI

Too may thoughts to fit a character limit here. Overall liked it, do think the large playable cast (14!!) has its weaknesses. Mid game twist would have been cool if I went in blind. Music fantastic and thank god for Pixel Remaster boost options

Admittedly I’m playing it as close to a console as I can get but yeah. Seems like an easy win in the future if Apple will let them port to PC or something

2025 Game #10: Sonic Dream Team
Have a trial of Apple Arcade for a few months, and this is the only notable game I'm interested in on the platform. Surprisingly decent! Think it's a shame more people can't play it due to platform restrictions. Final level was sick

2025 Game #9: Castlevania Circle of the Moon

Decided to go through one of the Castlevania games I never got the chance to try. Good fun, incredible music, gameplay a bit clunky. DSS system could be cool but felt like you needed a guide and luck to make it work properly. Also fuck Dracula was hard

2025 Game #8: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles

Easily the best of the classic Sonic games in variety of gameplay. Surprisingly long too - ran through with S&T, if I ever try again will use K. Very happy to have finally seen this one though, tickled the childhood memories even though I never owned it

2025 Game #7: Ghost of Tsushima

Really enjoyed this one! Don't play a lot of open world games so the formula isn't old to me. Messed around exploring a lot so felt incredibly overpowered very early but that did feel good. Main story is done but I'll keep going for more completion at a slow pace

2025 Game #6: Crash Bandicoot

Didn't have a PS1 growing up so I have no nostalgia for Crash. This game was bad! Platforming was janky, just didn't feel good to control. Played on the N.Sane Trilogy pack. I'm told later ones are better but not sure I'll try them out...

2025 Game #5: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Almost beat this on GBA as a young teen, completed now about 20 years later. It was... ok! Newer variations of this style like A Link Between Worlds have spoiled me and I liked those more, but it was still fun

2025 Game #4(?): Honkai Star Rail v3.0

Live service so can you ever really "finish" it? Either way I've spent the time to finish all content in the latest patch. I don't even think I actively enjoying playing it, it's busy work while I listen to music or podcasts I guess...

2025 Game #3: Sonic the Hedgehog 2

A much MUCH better game than the first, likely helped by a strong amount of nostalgia as this game was one that came with the Mega Drive I had as a kid. The music still slaps

2025 Game #2: Sonic the Hedgehog

Was thinking about what older games I never got around to playing and realised I've never done Sonic 3 or any of the Knuckles games, so figured I'd play the Mega Drive ones again. Nostalgic! But it hasn't aged well. Not having spin dash sucks

Chrono Trigger completed. First game of the year finished! Very charming game, paced incredibly well for a JRPG. Easy to see why it became so beloved and influential
