The way reality TV weaponizes “hygiene” critiques against Black women is such a specific cruelty it’s never about cleanliness, it’s coded class and race shame disguised as dating advice. “Snooping for Love” putting Patricia on blast wasn’t spontaneous; they cast her knowing they’d humiliate her.

I wish journalists would stop framing political news as wins or losses for politicians or political parties. It’s an abrogation of our mission. Why do we keep doing this? Is the spending bill a win or loss for the American people? Who does it help? Who does it hurt? Is it sound policy? Fiscally?

I’m thrilled about relocating to Maryland with my partner. While no place is flawless, I was captivated by the beauty of Black in all its shades and the sense of belonging. The cost is a bit jarring, but I’m eager to live in a state that’s worth the investment.
