It’s true there are risks, but generally if I wash my hands and don’t eat or drink while handling the type it lowers the risk significantly. Now a type caster working w/ molten type fumes—I’m not so sure!

Often referred to as “lead type,” it is really an alloy of 54-86% lead, 11-28% antimony & 3-18% tin. Antimony hardens the metal. Tin toughens the metal, counteracting the brittleness of antimony➡️ But what’s on my hands is dust & dirt accumulation b/c the drawers were stored unused & outside 4 some ⏰
