Wine, men and song, not necessarily in that order. Love football, hate isms.
My beautiful phone case arrived today - I didn’t know what phone I was going to buy but I knew for certain it would be clothed in @gailmyerscough.co.uk - like the one pictured, but in blue. It is perfect.
Christmas sorted. Prints, homewares, cards and t-shirts inspired by midcentury design, music and architecture. Designed in Manchester. Made in the UK. gailmyerscough.co.uk

Well, not quite right but am grateful to Stokes for losing his wicket when he did, stopping me from getting out of my warm bed to watch the game. Will content myself with the radio.
Off to bed, fully expecting to have lost the second test by the time I wake up by an innings and something. Would be less painful, frankly. Night night.

I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and sky. I left my vest and socks there, I wonder if they’re dry?
Which lines of poetry live rent-free in your head?

Well the cricket was awful, but looking forward to Pompey (looks at lineup) Ah fuck.

I know it’s not swimming weather, but checking the water quality in our area…

I’m having a very weird sensation. I’ve just watched the cricket highlights and…enjoyed them? Very odd. I’m sure normal service will be resumed.

If it were steel works we would have a government bailout plan, yet losing thousands of jobs at unis is met with a shrug. & unlike steelworks universities were profitable when they had foreign students.
You are killing the golden goose… one of our best exports…

HOW IS THIS HELPING GROWTH?!
Every sympathy for University of Essex (and pressures facing them) but this is very bad news for Southend.

It’s not just the uni jobs. There will be shop owners, food places, housing, all shedding jobs because of this. But still, kept the pesky foreigners out, eh?

The - very enjoyable - film version of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern was on Prime recently so go check if it’s still there if you’ve got a subscription. Imagine Tim Roth and Gary Oldman as Laurel and Hardy trapped in a Beckettian farce in the middle of Hamlet. A great great film of a great great play

Did low-rung hospitality today which meant I got to drink my way around such a shit game. The only other blessing was that it was over early. #pompey

So much of our politics revolves around catering to the emotions of people who become furious when someone else isn't suffering as much as they think they should
The restriction on car makes in Motability is a perfect and horrible example of Government By Vibes. it saves no money, it helps absolutely nobody, all it does is makes a few cruel and angry people feel better while disadvantaging people with mobility needs.

There's an advert on his website for a 'Depot Supervisor' that pays £12.75 an hour for shift work.
If he wants to reduce welfare spending maybe he should pay staff enough that they don't need in-work benefits.

Thank god the budget is finally happening tomorrow. It’s had a longer build up than a royal birth, and just as painful.
