It's going to be messy, but I think Q3's city map change provisions + this will allow NYC to finally build parks and affordable housing on all the paper streets it owns. And I don't think that could happen w/o the executive holding all the strings.

I mean nearly every townhouse on the UES east of Lex was multi-family at mid-century! They've all been converted back to single-family since then (the buildings in red). Maybe we'll repeat the process again

It's so fun to finally get to decide city policy. I feel so much better getting to vote instead of just endless "call your council member" 🙃

Anyway, no offense to these folks, but I think that if Brad Lander (who hates the mayor!!!) likes these proposals they're probably okay

There are entire parts of NYC that haven't built an apartment building in a generation. Something has to be done about that and I feel like this group of experts came up with a really fair set of proposals that balance competing interests.

I was frustrated by this! Its full of NIMBY talking points (city of yes was not a 40% upzoning of NYC!) and doesnt really give credit to how complicated the existing process is.
It also repeats the point that ~93% of projects are approved today, but neglects that lots of projects never get proposed

They just seem to be common sense fixes to a very broken system. docs.google.com/document/u/1...

I voted yes because Brad Lander + Cea Weaver (Zohran's housing advisor) both endorsed them.

I voted yes on all. Seems like the conservation groups are a yes on 1 and a bunch of people support 2-5 (e.g., Brad Lander, Cea Weaver who is Zohran's housing advisor). League of Women voters is a yes on 6 so went with a yes there as well.
