I am moderate Taoist, which is sort of redundant. Not a religion. Basic tenets are eschewing judgement, distrust of institutions and observing a profound respect for the natural world. IMO. Taoists often obsess on immortality. I am not one of those.

Basically I think you are talking about delusional cognitive dysfunction. "Faith" is often delusional but I am talking about someone knowingly lying, or not caring about veracity, to influence public opinion. There is a baseline consensus of reality I am pretty sure. Truth is more complicated.
