I’m guess I’m just stuck on the fact that the postwar liberal order made the United States the richest nation in the world, a magnet for immigrants everywhere, and a handful of billionaires decided to throw it all away because they got upset that the democrats thought the law ought to apply to them.

You know that Twilight Zone episode where the kid has amazing psychic powers and can make people disappear with his mind and the entire town is hostage to him and has to cater to his every whim? That’s us right now.

Really disappointed in the lack of good Kent State jokes and memes this year.

So between tariffing movies, making idiotic Star Wars memes, and ordering the reopening of Alcatraz, it was a banner day for batshit.

A million times this.
I know, norms and all that, but the default Dem position should be:

We think this is illegal but if the courts say you can do this then we are going to rip the guts out of the entire conservative movement. No more Heritage, FedSoc, etc. All of them lose their tax exempt status.

This country is being run by idiots. Even if this turns out to be fake, the fact it is believable is in itself a tragedy.

Today’s episode of FAFO… how’s that trump support working out for you, Ed?

Also. It isn’t just the tariffs. It is the breaking of all our relationships with our allies.

This is truly one of the most frustrating things about the way we live our lives today. The moment something works, the think we are omnipotent and don’t need it any more.
A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

As a big guy in NYC who rides the subway a lot, I have no idea what he is talking about.
Sean Duffy: "The truth is, transit across America is dangerous. And these liberals -- liberal mayors -- they want everybody out of cars and into trains but they made the trains unsafe so nobody really wants to ride them ... even big men don't want to ride the subway at those times of night."

I’m proud that my own Cato Institute is among the groups signing a cross-ideological amicus brief in the Perkins Coie case. Our country’s liberty is in dire peril if a would-be strongman can destroy a law firm for having stood up to him personally or the federal government he heads.

I know some people at these firms, and i know how they feel about these moves.

But this is just an entire fuck you to anyone who thinks law firms - especially biglaw - give a shit about anything but money. Cowards. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/27/b...

Not a law school grad, but ashamed my University alma mater is not on this list of signees. But then again, they still have Amy Wax on faculty, so not surprised.
Notably missing: Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Columbia. Kind of mindblowing to me given what the substance of this letter is: "government should not retaliate against law firms"
Dean Chemerinsky and other #lawschool deans "speak as legal educators, responsible for training the next generation of lawyers, in condemning any government efforts to punish lawyers or their firms based on the identity of their clients or for their zealous lawful and ethical advocacy."

Completely infuriating on its merits, but also, @washingtonpost.com, can't you find a better way of framing this than inadvertently (I hope, but can't be sure) saying that the information was there because of DEI policies? These are war heroes, ya know.

Since annexing Canada has now been put within the Overton window, maybe we should start loudly advocating for each province and territory to become a state. One look at their parliamentary election results will nip this in the bud real quick.
