Today, Chief Day demonstrated what it means to protect and serve. While driving along West Burnside, he came across a single vehicle crash. He stopped to assist until officers arrived.

Great work by Traffic officers this morning! Just after midnight, officers on SB I-205 saw an Audi speeding at 125 mph. When they tried to stop it, the driver accelerated to 135 mph.The driver had a 0.13% BAC and had smoked marijuana. He was arrested for Reckless Driving & DUII and booked into jail.

On Aug. 28, during back-to-school patrols, our Bike Squad arrested a man for warrants and suspected drug activity within several hundred feet of a school and busses. Meth was recovered.

Today was all about kids, confidence, and community. Officers partnered with Sunshine Division and Fred Meyer for the annual Shop With A Cop event—helping 250 students pick out clothes, school supplies, and backpacks as they get ready for a new school year.

Thank goodness no one was hurt in this NW 4/W. Burnside crash at about 1:30p today. This vehicle crashed into a light pole and caused a mess. Officers assisted with info exchange. Preliminary information is the vehicle had a malfunction that caused the crash.

Congratulations to K9 Partner Jager who retired earlier this year and was recently re-homed. Jager joined PPB in 2017 and was a valued K9 on the Special Emergency Reaction Team. During Jager's career he was deployed on 400+ calls, capturing 143 subjects. Thanks for your dedication K9 Jager!

In recent days, officers have disrupted possible street racing activity on North Marine Drive. Officers told dozens of drivers and onlookers that trespassing in business driveways and blocking sidewalks would not be tolerated. This proactive policing resulted in the respective crowds dispersing.
