Please testify!
Renters: I want to hear from you! At our next Homelessness and Housing Committee meeting on Tuesday, November 18, we’re holding open public testimony so renters can speak directly to councilors about their experiences and what they’d like to see from the City.

Portland’s Mayor, much of City Council, and many Portlanders spent recent days aligning themselves directly with Trump’s policies towards our precariously housed and homeless neighbors, while rabidly promoting a local extension of it.

It’s been utterly disgraceful and profoundly disappointing.
This is far worse than anyone expected.

Trump's HUD plan would cut *two-thirds* of permanent housing and push as many as 170,000 formerly homeless people back onto the street—redirecting funds to work mandates, forced treatment, and encampment sweeps.

All as mass internment camps are being built.

Big day in Portland politics at city hall today.

There's an anti-price fixing ordinance and a fall budget adjustment process that will include amendments about moving $ away from sweeps to rental assistance and support for immigrants and refugees.

DSA stands in absolute opposition to the proposed deal to pass Trump's billionaire budget. Healthcare is a right, not a bargaining chip.

Our constituents have more courage than we do. Shameful.
I do think this is a point of radicalization because a lot of angry, angry normal people were ready to dig in and suffer a lot in order to make fascists suffer a little, and their resolution was sold out and made into a mockery

A🧵 on the 2025 elections:

Portland had only one thing on the ballot, the Parks Levy. I want to thank the folks I met in Boise while knocking doors for the levy for the thoughtful conversations. I'm glad it passed, & I agree its not the best way to fund Parks. I hope we never need another one.

“Did the mayor waste money on a shelter system he knew was insufficient, just to create a veneer of ‘available shelter’ and justify a punitive crackdown? The City Council has a duty to investigate this potential misuse of taxpayer money.”

Early results show roughly 53 percent of Portland voters favored a new parks levy measure. The measure would set up a new, increased property tax to support the city's parks system. While the results could change as more ballots are counted, parks levy supporters are celebrating the early returns.
