Fiona and I had that discussion at the time, however, both the church and www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/294... suggests St George too. His other works are more 'conventional' with the cross emblazoned on his shield, for example the attached.

The Morning Chapel, known as such since the C18 when it was used for morning worship. Officially it is the North East Transept and was the home of two chapels - St Martin of Tours and St Catherine. Both are still in existence. The angels are on the western facing element of the former Choir screen.

Indeed they do and of course might have been and the estimate for the font might be inaccurate. However, I’ve seen nothing that places them earlier.

I know what you mean, there is a certain incongruity. However, I'd sooner that it looks as it does than was relegated to plant pot outside.
