I wrote ‘Where is the Left?’ for the New Internationalist and have been really heartened by how much it’s resonated with people organising across a wide range of groups and in such a vast array of different places

As a union, we have been fighting employers’ attempts at making 100% pay deductions for ASOS legal since 2019. As a branch, we’ve been at the forefront of that fight since 2022.

Our own union going against our policies, workers’ interest, and legal cases hurts.

UCU has been fighting employers' efforts to make 100% pay deductions for Action Short of Strike legal through practice since 2019. We're not stopping now that our own UCU Senior Management is replicating the same worst practice.

Much solidarity to @uniteucu.bsky.social.
Sometimes solutions are easy @drjogrady.bsky.social & @ucu.org.uk

Let’s sit down and talk without conditions or threats that damage everyone. It’s time to resolve this dispute.

📢 Anchor institutions & economic resilience in Leeds

How would our city look if large organisations used their buying power to keep wealth circulating locally?

Colleagues are exploring this in a project with @leedscitycouncil.bsky.social & local anchor networks.

I've written a short blog post on my current research project on how the procurement spend of anchor institutions could support local economic resilience - touching on ideas of community wealth-building and progressive local economics. Would love to hear from anyone working on similar themes! 💻 📡
