Jesus Christ. JESUS Christ. Jesus CHRIST. Yes, this person is correct, remigration is a white supremacy term for ethnic cleansing, basically. And the Department of Homeland Security, WHICH SHOULDN'T EVEN EXIST, just used the term. An official government account. That is...that is beyond fucked.
A reminder for those who are not aware: "remigration" is the process of deporting all non-white people from a country. It includes citizens and is, by definition, ethnic cleansing.

And to be clear: this is not fake. I just screenshot it myself.

Because I like to experience every emotion at once, it also makes me absolutely furious no congressional Dems have the aura, charisma, authenticity or basic fortitude to ever come remotely close to a tiny percentage of what we watched today
I am not forgetting about the Epstein files. I am not forgetting about the threats of executions, or about DHS/ICE/CBP, nor the corruption. But it’s certainly good to watch and laugh about how thoroughly Mamdani commanded the White House today, without once cowering from Trump or a press question.

Dems don’t need to copy his politics or even necessarily his campaign strategy, they need to learn how to grow a fucking spine.

We keep seeing startups who want to replace something valuable (therapy, counseling, tutoring, artistic expression) with some tech bullshit under the banner of democratization. But why do we need to invest so much in bad tech that doesn't work instead of just giving people access to what they need?

Even if you fully denounce and apologize for your white supremacist past, that doesn't mean you should be handed access to the levers of power. Your decision-making abilities are suspect, sorry! That's ok! Lots of people shouldn't be in office. You can find another way to contribute, like podcasting

this feels completely banal? yes, a big tent political party is going to include voters who have bigoted views. i don’t think anyone has argued otherwise? the actual question at hand is “to what extent should a political party ostensibly committed to equality appeal to popular prejudices?”

Spent the last decade reading conservative blogs use the word "Orwellian" more than they used the word "the" and now they're literally just saying "War is Peace" out loud in front of everybody.

A key difference here is that while either can be incorrect, the structure of Wikipedia *creates context* and the structure of LLMs *destroys context*

Wikipedia has linked sources and an edit history showing where information came from and who added it when

An LLM just generates text
Some of the anti-AI stuff feels a bit like when people would say "don't use Wikipedia as a source." It's just like anything else, a piece of information that you weigh against multiple sources and your own understanding of its likely failure modes

I keep thinking about Trump is clearly trying to replicate the new cities in petrostates, like Dubai and Riyadh. He is in love with the visible and garish opulence, built on the backs of actual modern slaves. He wants a whole country of these Potemkin villages, made by fraud, oppression and fealty.
such a maddening world we live in. protesting gets your head cracked and/or prosecuted while open fraudsters get pardoned. immigration sweeps and mass deportations but US citizenship is on sale retail for $5M a pop. things apparently do not collapse under the weight of their own contradictions
