The NYC Ya Basta Collective used similar tactics in the US in 2000-2001, choosing very colorful and soft outfits, bouncy accessories and silly activities involving kazoos and balloons. Not quite Clown Bloc, but in a festively padded style!

Tute Bianche was an Italian based tactic/bloc during the anti-globalization movement of the late 90s. They wore snuggly padded outfits, white coveralls and carried inflatables in various configurations. Very fun, so soft!

Come to the PSU Park Blocks on May 5 at 6pm for this ridiculously creative counter-demo led by Eastside Kettle Collective!

Today thousands of people took over the PDX Waterfront to protest the coup for the "50 capitals" rally, and Portland isn't even the capital!
So much of the coup strategy has been to move too fast for people to react.
