Thanks! I grew up in Iran, where 'Zionist' was used as an insult in state propaganda. After independent study, I learned Zionism simply means believing in right of Jewish people to a homeland. Considering the gruesome history of Jewish persecution, it's hard to deny the necessity of a Jewish state.

A lot of voters are surely to blame. Widespread apathy and lack of political education among many Americans have no doubt contributed to the rise of right-wing populism. However, blaming these voters is entirely useless. This is the electorate we have; we don't get to pick another one.

I hope you're right and there's the political will in Europe to continue supporting Ukraine's needs for at least two more years. In two years, the American people can elect a Congress that'll be able to override a presidential veto and fund Ukraine.

That Trump's GOP were able to sell themselves to so many people as pro-worker will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the biggest con jobs in history.

Great article! Using a generative model as a tool for case law research is like using a hammer to cut a piece of paper. These models aren't good for providing background information, not precise searches across documents.

Let's see what happens. Unfortunately, when it comes to US policies domestically and internationally, all we can do now is just hope -- at least for two years. Do you think he'll force Ukraine to surrender?

Perhaps US history experts can illuminate us: did General George Washington also avoided military service by faking bone spurs?

This is one of the saddest aspects of Trump's reelection: just like in 2016-2020, he'll take credit for another booming economy, which probably enhances his image as an economic magician in the eyes of so may less-engaged voters.

My hope is that the Iranian regime literally trying to assassinate Trump might make the issue personal enough for him to oppose any rapprochement. After all, Trump’s top priority has always been Trump.

Plot-twist: the candidate in question told you to show up so you can be denied entry and report on this denial! He wants the world to know his disdain for the press this way!

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome!🌹 Looking forward to reading from and interacting with others who care about preserving the American democracy!

The idea that Trump's rise resulted from working class frustration with Dems has always been betrayed by the fact that the other side are orders of magnitude more plutocratic than the Dems, both in substance & style. Yet this patently ridiculous idea persists because people want to believe it

Delighted to see you on Substack, David! I've been a huge fan of your work for years. On election night, I kept thinking about how you'd hoped to retire after this, and it saddened me that such an incredible career didn’t get the fitting closure you intended. I hope we can rectify this in 4 years.
