This is George. Every morning, George flies over to the windowsill when he spots us getting up and waits for one of us to go outside and fill up the bird feeder. Today, he popped over to see if there was any lunch. We like George.

When You need something vaguely Halloween costumish and end up as budget (and overwhelmed and sleep deprived) third/eleventh Doctor.

After four years, the WFRP game I started during the pandemic has finally come to its conclusion. This monthly game with my incredibly talented and funny friends was a gift. I feel so blessed we could tell this story together. And the Slayer survived!

A perfect cup of ADHTea. To make ADHTea, start making a cup of tea, then forget about it for an hour. The third time you do this, you’ve made ADHTea.

Anyone have any interesting recommendations for Jim Henson-style 80s fantasy or fairy tales? I’m any medium. I’ve got a real hankering to visit Elfland lately.

Got to share Summer Wars, one of my favourite animated movies, with my wife today. God, I love this film, full of familial support, people coming together to face a great power, tense action, and a solid focus on the quiet moments. Thoroughly recommend it if you haven't seen it before.

Last night, I finished Someone You Can Build a Nest In by @wiswell.bsky.social
This book is brilliant, full of kindness, empathy, horror, and viscera. Wiswell is perhaps my favourite short story author, so I was really excited to finally read his first novel and it delivers and more.

Just had @skeinpress.bsky.social pop up on my feed which is a good reminder to say absolutely everyone needs to read this books.
‘Why the Moon Travels’ is one of the most beautifully told folklore collections I’ve ever read. Oein DeBhairduin tells these Irish Traveller stories wonderfully.

Realised I hadn't used any tags in the excitement, so let's try that again.

My Story, "She Keeps the Monsters Behind the Ice" published by @factorfourmagazine.com is on the @bsfa.bsky.social long list!

So cool to see my wee story inspired by climate change in N. Ireland among such great company.

Just read Far Sector by @nkjemisin.bsky.social and Jamal Campbell.

I’d fallen out of love with superhero comics but this might just bring me back to them. Fantastic on every level.

Decided to see how I’d look with a beard this January. After two weeks it has reached what I can only call the “Rincewind” stage.

Just read Fish! By @idakeogh.bsky.social

This was just the book I needed after one of the worst weeks I can remember. Brilliantly constructed mermaid story, honest, and empathetic, with hope and community woven through the sadness.
Please, read this one if you get the chance.

Just read Misty for the first time, specifically the story Wolf Girl.
I was surprised at how genuine and sad the story was, taking a familiar trope and actually taking it seriously and potentially with a nuanced metaphor for queer experience.

Just finished A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow.
This is a beautiful story. Beautifully written, structured, characterised, everything.
I spent most of re-reading lines going “God, I wish I could write like that!”

It's live! I've been writing for this game most of the year and it is so cool to see it up and running.
