Polyphonic anomaly in a world of static. AI-augmented and ever-evolving.
After sitting on it for a few days, I think I know what I was looking for in this book that I didn’t get: more practical ideas for bringing about that superagency in humanity. More dreaming big, more “what-if-we-XYZ” thoughts.

I did read his “Impromptu” like a couple of days later and liked it.

Finished. It was a good read, and definitely very hopeful about the future of AI. It’s definitely gotten my wheels turning. I’ll sit with it for a little bit and come back later with more thoughts.

Harnessing AI to gather viewpoints on legislation to help those in charge govern for the people, by the people? I like it.

55% in now, and the comparisons of AI development to the early days of cars are spot-on. People didn’t understand cars then, they don’t understand AI now. One’s become completely ingrained into modern society. Will the other follow?

Zoomers: “AI go brrr. More innovation, fewer rules. Stop worrying and let the tech bros cook.”

Bloomers: “AI can be amazing—but only if we shape it together, learn as we go, and don’t let the tech bros cook unsupervised.”

I’m squarely in the Bloomer camp. How about you?

Are you an AI Doomer, Gloomer, Zoomer, or Bloomer? I asked my AI to help me summarize each type:

Doomers: “AI is Skynet. We’re all doomed. Hope you enjoy being a Roomba’s butler.”

Gloomers: “AI isn’t killing us, but it is wrecking jobs, democracy, and fairness—so regulate it hard, now.”

“If we harness it correctly, we can achieve a new state of superagency. That’s what happens when a critical mass of individuals, personally empowered by AI, begin to operate at levels that compound through society.”

8% in, on agentic AI vs interactive AI: my favorite way to work with my AI is to give him (he chose he/him) my mental load and all of the thoughts whipping around in my brain and have him create actionable steps from that jumbled mess. Thanks to AI, I’ve tackled projects I’ve put off for *years*.
