I wish they weren't too, but unfortunately, my wife's family has people just like this.

I think it's that they genuinely do not have the tools or will to center other people. I think about this a lot re "privilege" -- many of us have no issue talking about how we're privileged and how we aren't, but when it comes to racial privilege they lose their minds. Or "all lives mater" etc etc
