Poland has condemned the removal by the Russian authorities of Polish military symbols at the Katyn cemetery, which houses the remains of thousands of Poles massacred by the Soviets in WWII.

The foreign ministry today "conveyed a firm protest" to Russia.

The orphans were led to Canada by Father Łucjan Królikowski, who became the chaplain for the #Tengeru orphanage in 1947.

He previously served in the 12th Heavy Artillery Regiment in Iraq, was ordained in Beirut in 1946, and acted as chaplain for Polish Military Hospital No. 8 in El-Qantara, Egypt.

Archival sketches and reports aided the discovery of a 1942 cemetery in Kyrgyzstan where 11 Polish exiles (3 soldiers and 8 civilians) died during the formation of the #AndersArmy 5th Infantry Division.

Józef Tadeusz Jachimek, harcerz z Włodzimierza Wołyńskiego (ur. w Czerczycach) trafił w ręce NKWD w wieku 17 lat. Przeszedł przez Workutłag, a następnie zaciągnął się do Armii Andersa. Zmarł w marcu 1942 i został pochowany w Kanimech w Uzbekistanie

Kiedy harcerz z Włodzimierza Wołyńskiego, Józef Tadeusz Jachimek, trafił do katowni NKWD, miał zaledwie 17 lat. Przeszedł przez więzienie i Workutłag, a następnie zaciągnął się do Armii Andersa.

Jerzy Bluszcz was a member of ground crew serving with 18 Operational Training Unit at RAF Bramcote. He was killed on this day in 1941, after walking into the path of a rotating aircrew.
