2 - this isn't dual currency sweepstakes.

So this will be the key point here. In California's new bill, this is how sweepstakes gaming is defined (and v likely soon to be banned):

As you play, you learn. And in fact, the only way to make use of the credits for hand analysis is _to_ play (you can't afaict just fire up analysis. it comes from 'chips' games only)

Maybe it'll be a .... triple currency system?

No one really seems to have a good sense of what an alternative model may be, but today is the day that it ends and a "game changing" new feature will replace it.

So sure, West Virginia - small state right.

Well, it's big enough to launch online casino there. Lets take a look at licensed online casinos in WV (via @pokerindpro)

- BetMGM (BetMGM Poker)
- Caesars (WSOP)
- FanDuel (Flutter/PokerStars)

We're already seeing some state-specific special freerolls for early signups, so they have the capacity to run region-restricted tournaments (these can only be seen if you're in that state, but switching between them is v simple)

It's actually now the largest network if we're counting total skins. They have 2 in PA, 3 in DE, 1 a piece in WV and DE.

Final thought: What's fascinating here is *just how close and competitive the US online poker market is going to be.*

This chart is network traffic data in Q1 2025 of the US networks (blue) and the PA networks (black)

[*Q4 2024 for WSOP USA due to tracking issues]

[note: CZR initial PR said 10 events would have a live FTs. This was later amended to say 5, the same as last year. We ran with the 10 headlineas that was a big change - a third of all bracelets with a live final table! since corrected]
April 28, 2025 at 6:54 PM
Key takeaways table (from @anuj2212 natch), this compares last year's series on US network vs new four-state US network.

However, keep in mind that last year there were 7 on the PA site. So this is actually 7 *fewer* bracelets across the WSOP US

Bracelet deflation?
April 28, 2025 at 6:53 PM
And of course for WSOP players, what's unique is that this network spreads to Nevada as well.

While we've had 3-state networks before (with Delaware, RIP), this is the first ever four-state online poker network in the US.

It looked briefly like BetMGM would enjoy at least a couple of days on their own as the only multi-state network. Indeed, last week's press release specifically calls out BetMGM and Borgata, with others "expected to join soon."
April 28, 2025 at 6:53 PM
So this is a nice push out of BetMGM. I think there's a very good chance they'll come out on top once we have the first traffic numbers in (more on that in a bit).

Six skins across three states is also the largest regulated online poker network we've ever had.

Six new events - TORSE we expected (RIP limit hold'em 😢 ), battle of the ages is an interesting addition to the senior-event buildout. Casino Employees widened to industry employees.

Independence Day has become Summer Celebration.

Excited to make the shortlist for the Global Poker Awards 2024 Best Journalist awards. I'm even happier that @gpi have resurrected this award after it being benched the last few years.

What's left?

Short Deck (6+) and EvenMoreCardsOmaha. Both games offered elsewhere. Goes to show just how hard it is with spreading a game not available elsewhere.

(okay there's one French exception in the table below. Maybe someone forgot to turn out the lights?)

Game gets the usual custom table theme.
January 13, 2025 at 2:47 PM
Games are available through blind lobby only. Right now you can only select one table at a table (no way to jump into multiple tables at once)
January 13, 2025 at 2:47 PM
Rake is 4.5% to 5%.
Spread from NL10 to NL1k

An exclusive on @pokerfuse from @anuj2212 today - PokerStars has launched a new game in the international market - All In Poker.

It's exactly as it sounds, and replaces the slightly more complex Tempest Hold'em, which was retired a few days ago.

And this model has grown *to a network of 5 skins* on the "Real Gaming Poker Network". Each has the backing of a real casino in Nevada (as required) then licensed through Real Gaming's interactive gaming license.
December 12, 2024 at 3:25 PM
So Real Poker was a true player-vs-player online poker site and it outlasted Ultimate Poker, but it never really got any traction. It was on super basic in-house software.

New addition to the games shelf.
