like this is the most irresponsible level of hysteria i’ve ever seen. most of these people are either paid by the republican party, or are high level advisors and allies. this is insane

I don’t care what Ozturk wrote. It doesn’t matter. This is America. We’re fucking free to have opinions of all sorts. It doesn’t matter. You don’t get to lock up people for bad thought. That’s against the fucking law and morals and fuck every last person arguing that this is a crime. Fuck all of em

Release is step one.

Step two is justice for Rümeysa Öztürk—justice in the form she needs and articulates. She is owed a tremendous amount for the violation of her rights.

Truly they have zero understanding on how anything works and lie thru their teeth about whatever they want
Just in case anyone's wondering how bad she's lying: the only people who can check books out of the LOC are congressional staff.

Library cards for use of the research centers are only available to people over the age of 16, and researchers under 18 need permission from a parent or guardian.
Reporter: The president fired the Librarian of Congress. Why?

Leavitt: There were quite concerning things she had done at the Library of Congress in the pursuit of DEI and putting inappropriate books in the library for children.

It's Friday afternoon, which is a tough time for important news, but Stephen Miller said today the White House is "actively looking at" suspending the writ of habeas corpus.

And as my friend @lawofruby.bsky.social put it, that's "truly crazy." www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...
White House’s Stephen Miller: ‘We are actively looking at’ suspending habeas corpus
Miller claimed the U.S. can suspend the right to challenge the legality of a person’s detention “in time of invasion.”

The library and the post office are the only two systems we have that circulate things widely and to everyone, no matter who they are or what they believe. The library is the only one that, for now, is not forced to pay for itself at point of sale. Attacks on IMLS are attacks on every one of us.

They see every accomplishment of anyone other than a pure aryan male as unearned. To call it anti-DEI is wildly inaccurate.
This is blood-boiling. Charles Rogers was awarded the Medal of Honor in Vietnam after being wounded three times leading the defense of a position.

Google his name and the entry below comes up. When you click, you'll see the page has been deleted and the URL changed to include "DEI medal."

Exactly, the core message of far-right populism that all of your problems are the fault of women, queers and racial minorities.

That doesn't mean every supporter is a vicious bigot, but it does mean they find that message appealing, plausible or harmless.

New York's (de)congestion pricing, which charges $9 to drive into Manhattan below 60 St, has reduced traffic, increased ridership, reduced subway crime, and is raising funds to fix the decaying transit system. Rare for a public policy to have this many benefits!
EXCLUSIVE: New York’s congestion pricing plan raised $48.6M in tolls during its first month, a strong start that exceeded expectations. The revenue figures, expected to be released publicly on Monday by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, are the latest sign that the tolling plan is working.

Something you can do to stand against RFK jr’s attempt to make us all sicker is wear a mask when you share air with others. Resist mask bans. People who cannot afford to get sick have a right to exist in public. Masking will protect your health from him too.
