Fascists are useless losers who are always tripping over their dicks. The problem is that every time they do, they’re caught and helped back to their feet by some grand old institution that for generations had sworn they would stand by the public good if it were ever in danger.

Yeah, it's the "baby with a Davy Crockett" issue. He might play with his blocks and leave you alone, he might fucking nuke somebody, he might take a nap. Anyone arguing that he's not a problem is just someone he hasn't pointed the Davy Crockett at yet.

The tension I’m seeing between “Admonish the sinner” and “Forgive offenses willingly”, what’s the resolution there?
I’m not religious, but my instinct is seeing sin as offense against others (which is on the victim to forgive and on you to admonish as a member of the sinner’s community)

Because there’s no leverage to force the GOP to do it. They control the presidency, both houses of Congress and the courts, and have proven before to be faithless when it comes to these sorts of promises. In fact, they laugh at the Dems for ever believing they’d be true to their word.
