By choosing to end it where they did, they made this much more of a character driven psychological thriller rather than a typical disaster film. I may have to watch it again to pick some of the nuance that I missed the first time.

Tracy Letts gave an excellent performance as a general who seemed more interested in last night's baseball game than the fact that we were about to "blow the world away to victory." (Not a quote from the movie, just a phrase I've heard.)

#IdrisElba was amazing as the POTUS, but there was plenty of transcendent acting in this production. The actor Gabriel Basso, who played the deputy from the NSA, gave a masterful performance as a career government analyst of the type currently being purged from the government for "disloyalty"

Unhelpful because it lacks any context about how much we've spent, and disingenuous because the amount is relative to prices that almost nobody actually pays.

This sounds like a stupendously Bad Idea™️

I know a scientist who proposed ending space exploration by putting a few dump trucks of sand into earth orbit. Anything trying to leave the atmosphere would be "sanded" into pieces within seconds. This sounds like it would do the same.
